“In this fable, a boy puts his hand into a jar full of filberts (hazelnuts) and grabs a handful. However, he finds that he cannot pull his hand out because the jar is too narrow and his fist is too large. The boy refuses to let go of the nuts, even though he is now stuck. The story illustrates the lesson that greed can lead to losing everything, as the boy’s desire for more causes him to forfeit what he already has.”
