“In this fable, a wolf gets a bone stuck in his throat and begs a crane for help. The crane agrees to remove the bone in exchange for a reward. After successfully extracting the bone, the crane asks for her payment, but the wolf scornfully refuses, saying that her help was reward enough. The story conveys the lesson that those who offer help to the ungrateful may end up with nothing but disappointment.”
